Jackie Winsor

One of my creative influences is Jackie Winsor. She is a Canadian-American sculptor. Her style, which developed in the early 1970s as a reaction to the work of minimal artists, has been characterized as post-minimal, anti-form, and process art. Works from this period use minimalism’s geometry but eschew its use of industrial materials and methods in favor of materials such as wood and hemp. I do use a lot of wood in my work and it is often very geometric. As everyone knows, I have a love affair with the cube. It is funny though because I had been doing work like this before I knew about Jackie.  Here are some images of her work:
